The Ama Yangri Trek offers a delightful escape into the natural and cultural beauty of the Helambu region, located approximately 90 km north of Kathmandu Valley. Situated within the Sindupalchok district and part of the Langtang National Park, this trek is renowned for its ease, natural allure, and rich Hyolmo heritage.

Trek from Tarkeghyang to Ama Yangri (approximately 4 hours).
Return to Kathmandu or extend the trek by returning via Shermathang and Melamchi Gaun.

Transportation: Bus from Narayantar Shiva Chowk (near Baudha) to Tarkeghyang. During the rainy season, buses may only go as far as Timbu.

It falls under the Helambu Circuit Trekking, also known as "Hyolmo Heritage," providing an opportunity to immerse in the unique Hyolmo culture distinct from Khumbu and Rolwaling regions. The trek also boasts stunning views of the Langtang Range, Annapurnas, Manaslu, and Everest on clear days.
Natural Beauty: The trek route winds through enchanting landscapes adorned with rhododendron, pine, and oak forests, culminating at an altitude of 3,771 meters. March or April (Nepalese month of Chaitra) is ideal for trekking, offering pleasant weather and vibrant natural surroundings.
Cultural Rituals: A highlight of the trek is the full moon day of Chaitra when locals gather to climb Ama Yangri before dawn to witness the sunrise. Lamas conduct elaborate prayers while locals enjoy traditional beverages like butter tea, barley beer, and local wine, adding a festive touch to the spiritual experience.
